The Matchday Insight : Week 10

Before we get to week 10 picks , i must admit that last week has been more eventful that any other week for me. My rank has been moving up and down in thousands and at the end it did go up edging closer to the 4 digit number.Im sure most of us did bank on D. Gea along with Manchester United to play well in the derby at Old Trafford but this Man City side did demolish them in a manner that Alex discribed as "the worst defeat in his time ".

The Negative 18 by my keeper just about killed the week but all thanks to VDV with 2 goals got it back on track. Some good performances by Suarez , Balotelli and Rvp who came on from the bench at 73 mins and scored 2 goals.

Looking forward im sticking with the basics of strong home sides in defence and targeting weak opposition in the offence.Keeping in mind Carling cup matches midweek and CL matches coming up after Week 10, it will be important to ensure no player in your team is rested for either of the two reasons.

Lets get to Week 10 player picks :

Easy Match ups :

Manchester City vs Wolves
Tottenham vs QPR
Norwich vs Blackburn
West Brom vs Liverpool

Forwards :

Aguero / Balotelli
Manchester City is the team on top and in superb form. After having demolish United 6-1 and wolves 5-2 in Carling Cup, it must be said that they dont sit back after a comfortable score line. This makes their strikers top picks against a weak Wolves side. Dzeko played most of the match midweek so i do expect him to be rested for the CL clash . Aguero and Balotelli should start upfront.

Adebayor
At home against a weak side QPR . The reason i call QPR weak is because they just cant win away from home and White hart lane is not the easiest places to go and get something out of the game. Adebayor could be the man to watch out for in this one and its just the matter of time this guy will just expode.

Graham
Last week i watched the complete Wolves vs Swansea game as i just didnt have anything better to do but in case any of you did watch it too , you would know why ive put this guy on my list. He has been scoring in the last few matches and assisting as well. His avg , value , no. of goals etc are rising by the match. If you have belief in Swansea at home then this guy is a good pick.

Suarez
The reason ive put him a little lower in this list is because he played for 86 minutes in the Carling cup match against Stoke on Wednesday.Does that really matter ? Not really as he is so hungry to score all the time.Even if he comes from the bench he could just score 2-3 in no matter of time.I would stick with him for this week as well.

Midfielders :

Van der Vaart
Pick of the week. He is in super form, 2 goals last week and playing at home against QPR , well what else can i say !!

Silva
We have mentioned him every week in the player picks. The pick and the reasons remain the same.

Modric
Most of us dont seem to look beyond Vdv and Adebayor in this spurs line up but there has been a strong performance by Modric which does not seem to show in the score line.He has been consistently averaging between 9 - 10 all season. He has been taking all corner kicks for spurs lately and im sure he is surely going to among the scorers sooner that later.

Gerrard
Having a player like Gerrard does seem to take the pressure off the midfield and you dont really think too much for that spot as it does what its expected to and thats to give more pts than the worth. He will score more than 12 pts even if he doesnt end up scoring or assisting as he does so much more in the side and the points can just go upwards from there.

Pilkington
Playing at home against a tired/weak/relegation probable Blackburn Rovers. He is the pick of Norwich players as he has been for the last few matches for them.He is in great form and could turn out to be a game changer this week.

Ben Arfa
He did come on from the bench last week and ended up with an all important assist for Cabaye's first goal in the premier league.Having seen the way he got himself involved and his attacking play , it does make him a good pick or in other words an ideal "cheap / bargain pick " . Value is still less than 4.

Defenders :

Richards
Having being rested in the Carling cup tie i do expect him to start this weekend.Apart from a clean sheet, he could get in some valuable points upfront as well.

Walker
Pick of the spurs defenders and he is in form.Having created many chances and assists for Vdv and Adebayor from the right wing , he could end up with good amt of points

Rangel
Having seen Swansea's form at home, they dont seem to be conceeding goals. Rangel could be an ideal pick for a clean sheet this week.

Luiz
With Bosingwa out for 3 matches, we can seen Luiz starting more than usual and he isnt a bad pick when in form. I havent seen his do much this season but given a chance like this and with his value dropped to around 6 could be a good addition in your team.

Goalkeepers :

Vorm
Same reasons for Swansea's defensive record at home and this guy is capable of having good number of saves as he is really good a keeper.

Friedel
Playing at home against QPR would be an easy match up for a keeper and all he needs to take care of mistakes in the back line.Probable clean sheet.

Ruddy
Norwich is at home to blackburn and after the 4-3 win against Newcastle in Carling cup would lead to tired legs in the Blackburn side. This could be a good time to pick Norwich players as they would take advantage of a week side being tired and clueless away from home.

Thats all from our player picks. Thanks for taking out time to read our blog. We do hope for your feedback and you can follow us @iFantasyEPL on twitter.

Have a good weekend !!!
